Laptops Needed for the new Freshman Academy

The South Johnston High School Alumni Association has been tasked a funding project by Principal Eddie Price in support of the new Freshman Academy, centered around Problem Based Learning (PBL). The PBL theme will strengthen the core instruction of the teachers. The freshman academy will also get the 9th graders acclimated to the high school "way of life." The Freshman Academy will  use the PBL concept through technology (one-to-one laptop). This where the Association comes in!

Principal Price needs our support in funding over 300 laptops for the PBL project.  To accomplish this, I am challenging each alumni to donate at least $10 or more using the “Donate” button.

If you prefer, you may also mail a check payable to the South Johnston High School Alumni Association at PO Box 242, Smithfield, NC  27577.  Private donations may be made to Four Oaks Bank in the name of the Association as well.

We estimate  that a laptop may cost around $400. Our goal is to provide funding to the High School for the purchase of at least 100 laptops for this project. Any dollar amount you give is appreciated. Your name and contribution (if you request) will be listed amongst the donors to Principal Price and posted on the Association website. Our goal is to provide a check to SJHS by the Fall 2011. Help us spread the word to anyone that attended SJHS (not necessarily graduated -- teachers or students).  There is strength in numbers. Help us reach our goal.

UPCOMING ALUMNI EVENTS

• The 2011 Annual Alumni Association Basketball Exhibition Game will take place later this Fall (Date to be determined). All graduates interested in playing on the women and men's team, please send an email to board@sjhsalumni.org.
